What is Lent?

Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It’s a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord’s Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek Jesus in prayer, serve by giving alms, and fast to make room for God in our lives.

At the St. John Paul II Newman Center, we seek a relationship with the Lord and authentic friendship with one another. We invite you to make the Newman Center your home during this time and see how the Lord wants to work in your life!
