APPLY TO SERVE ON THE LEADERSHIP TEAM

2025-2026

The JPII Leadership Team (JPII LT) builds up the Newman Center culture by leading in these key areas:

COMMUNITY
Build a team to facilitate opportunities for community within our Omaha college student population. Traditionally, this includes planning and facilitating weekly community nights and the Spring Formal.

HOSPITALITY
Build a team to foster a culture of hospitality so that every student who walks in our doors, whether a regular attendee or someone brand new, would be known and loved. Some of these responsibilities would include overseeing Mass refreshments on Sunday mornings, training and assigning greeters and staffing a welcome table for Sunday Masses and community events. Help us become a community that “goes the extra mile” to welcome the stranger.

LITURGY
Build a team to assist in the recruitment and training of servers and ushers, maintaining and restocking sacristy supplies, and assigning readers, servers, and ushers for Mass. Special occasions like the annual Eucharistic Procession and the Sacred Triduum in the Spring are two major areas of attention.

SERVICE

Build a team to coordinate monthly service efforts within the greater Omaha community, with relationship building as the goal and at the heart of each opportunity.

OUTREACH

Play a role in shaping the Newman Center message to draw your peers into mission and community here.

Act as the point person for photography at all events- either taking pictures or delegating the responsibility to another student, if not attending, and help in crafting social media posts. Meet to brainstorm ideas for topics on the blog, compelling student stories, and provide visibility on student life to help with marketing efforts. Occasions like the beginning of the year, retreats, important church holy days, and our "win" events will be areas of particular focus.

JPII LT PRESIDENT
The primary responsibilities for this role include leading monthly team meetings (as well as scheduling meetings and making the agenda) and with the help of other leadership team members, chairing several events including a Ministry Fair at the beginning of each semester and the Resurrection Party after the Easter Vigil. This leader will support and guide the efforts of the team so that their responsibilities are accomplished in a timely and organized manner. They will work closely with the campus minister to communicate with the leadership team about vision, priorities, and needs. Additional responsibilities could include being a liaison between UNO and JPII Newman by making on-campus reservations as needed.
